NORTHAMPTON EDGE NEWCASTLE IN THRILLER TO END AWAY-DAY DROUGHT

Newcastle Falcons 34 – 35 Northampton Saints (HT: 10-28)

Northampton Saints held off a ferocious second-half comeback from Newcastle Falcons to secure a dramatic 35-34 win at Kingston Park, ending a 15-month wait for an away victory in the Gallagher Premiership. The Saints, fielding a much-changed side after Champions Cup duties, ran in five first-half tries including a stunning 21-point blitz in the final eight minutes of the half. Luke Green powered over before Fin Smith crossed and converted his own score, and Will Glister added the bonus-point try after capitalizing on a defensive miscue. Earlier, Craig Wright and Rory Hutchinson had combined to cancel out Jamie Blamire’s early opener for Newcastle, giving Saints a commanding 28-10 lead at the break. But the Falcons refused to fold. After the restart, Connor Doherty and Alex Hearle dotted down in quick succession, while Ben Stevenson and Max Pepper added two more scores to bring the home side within a single point. Brett Connon’s missed conversion in the 77th minute proved the difference, as Saints clung on to claim a vital win. It was a frustrating night for Newcastle, who outscored Northampton 24-7 in the second half but paid the price for their defensive lapses before the break.

BATH SURVIVE EXETER COMEBACK TO SEAL NARROW WIN AT SANDY PARK

Exeter Chiefs 24 – 26 Bath Rugby (HT: 10-26)

Bath held off a fierce second-half surge from Exeter Chiefs to secure a scrappy but vital 26-24 victory at Sandy Park, keeping their place at the top of the Gallagher Premiership. The visitors looked dominant in the first half, scoring four tries through a penalty try, Niall Annett, Josh Bayliss, and Will Muir. Finn Russell pulled the strings superbly, guiding Bath to a 16-point lead at the break. However, a spirited second-half fightback from Exeter saw Paul Brown-Bampoe score twice, narrowing the gap to just two points. Despite losing Muir and Max Ojomoh to injury and being under pressure late on, Bath’s defense held firm. A crucial scrum penalty on their own line in the closing minutes allowed them to close out the game and seal a hard-earned win.

SALE SHARKS POWER PAST HARLEQUINS TO STRENGTHEN PLAY-OFF PUSH

Harlequins 29 – 43 Sale Sharks (HT: 15-26)

Sale Sharks delivered a statement victory in the Premiership play-off race with a dominant 43-29 win over Harlequins at The Stoop, fuelled by a pack-led performance and a brace from Tom Curry. Despite an early Harlequins lead through Jack Kenningham and further tries from Cadan Murley, Cameron Anderson, and Nathan Jibulu, Quins couldn’t contain a relentless Sale forward unit that accounted for all seven of the visitors’ tries. Curry crossed twice, while Luke Cowan-Dickie, Asher Opoku-Fordjour, Jonny Hill, Jean-Luc du Preez, and Tom Roebuck also dotted down. Rob du Preez converted four scores in a complete performance. SARACENS DOMINATE SECOND HALF TO CRUSH GLOUCESTER AND RETURN TO PREMIERSHIP TOP FOUR

Saracens 36 – 14 Gloucester Rugby (HT: 12-14)

Saracens stormed back into the Gallagher Premiership play-off positions with a commanding 36-14 bonus-point victory over Gloucester, fueled by a dominant second-half display at StoneX Stadium. Trailing 14-12 at the break, the hosts scored 24 unanswered points after the interval. Hooker Theo Dan powered over twice from driving mauls, before Argentina flanker Juan Martin Gonzalez and Jamie George added gloss to the scoreboard in the closing stages. In the first half, Gloucester dazzled early with a stunning end-to-end move finished by Chris Harris. Saracens responded with tries from Rotimi Segun and Nick Tompkins, but a wayward pass from Tompkins was picked off by Santi Carreras for a Gloucester try that gave the visitors a slim halftime lead. With Maro Itoje, Ben Earl, and Tom Willis back in the fold, Saracens’ pack took control in the second half. The win draws the defending champions level on points with third-placed Sale and sends a warning shot to the rest of the league.

LEICESTER EDGE BRISTOL IN THRILLER TO MOVE SECOND

Bristol Bears 19 – 36 Leicester Tigers (HT: 5-22)

Leicester Tigers surged into second place in the Gallagher Premiership with a pulsating 36–19 victory over Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate. The visitors dominated the first half, running in three tries through Adam Radwan, Ollie Hassell-Collins, and Jack van Poortvliet, while Handré Pollard added a penalty and two conversions to build a commanding 22–5 lead at the break. Bristol’s only first-half highlight was a dazzling no-look offload from Kalaveti Ravouvou to set up Gabriel Ibitoye’s long-awaited return try. But a costly intercepted pass from Ibitoye allowed Hassell-Collins to restore Tigers’ control before Van Poortvliet’s dummy added to the damage. After the break, Bristol capitalized on a yellow card to Joe Heyes, with Ravouvou cutting through for a second try. Freddie Steward responded with Tigers’ bonus-point try, but Harry Randall struck back moments later, keeping the contest alive. With Solomone Kata sin-binned for a high tackle, the Bears pressed for a late comeback, but a final-minute score from Cameron Henderson sealed the win and lifted Leicester above their rivals into the top two on points difference.
